Napoleon Hill was one who believed that success, having the great life you want is simply the result of doing things in a certain way. When it comes to living a positive dream life experience, is there more to it than that? Is there a secret that successful people have that is illusive to those struggling to find success? I’ve come to find that it’s all about the way you think, the energy you both inhabit and expel. What’s driving you…? For real. Here’s the secret of how I found my secret formula for success in my personal life and business marketing.
Recently a buddy of mine who has been down on her luck came to stay with me for a weekend to relax and try to re-group. While she was here, it was business as usual for me. I was at a critical transition stage and could not slow down.
So she watched as I did what I always do every day…work, make connections, work, forget to eat, work, enjoy my life, work, and love the work.
Before she left, she asked me a question: “The way you live your life lets me know that one day you really will be incredibly successful. What is it that drives you?” She sort of caught me off guard (and I was really in a rush, I had a conference call in twenty minutes) and I honestly did not know what to say. I had been in go-go-go mode for so long, knowing my intended destinations, that stopping to remember why I started doing this had become an untouched action.
So I rattled off something about just wanting to be great at what I do and becoming known as the greatest designer in the world and, surprisingly she saw through the BS and said, “yeah…but there has to be something that is driving you.”
You are encouraged to step out of your comfort zone in the direction of your desires with confidence and optimism, with the belief that you will find success and fulfillment. – A wise person
She was right. I just never noticed because it came so naturally to me.
Yes, I have a couple of concrete objectives that I could list for you but won’t because they are top secret <wink, wink> but those long term goals is not what she was referring to.
She was looking for a key. A key for consistently creating what one desires in life and genuinely wanting to do so.
She was asking, what is it that makes this woman so die hard about what she does? How can she party with me all night and then get up and write a proposal like she’s slept for days and then run off to meetings and guest appearances looking gorgeous? (my thoughts, not hers but I’m so sure she was thinking that). How does she have the energy and drive to get up early and do this every single day and be happy about it?
That’s what she wanted to know. She wanted to know my “secret.”
On that day, I did not have an answer because I had never really thought about it but today, I do have an answer and I am going to share my secret with you. My secret is…I have no secret. I see something I want. I know I can get it. I will stop at nothing. Whatever I do, I do it well. It WILL be mine.
There’s really nothing to it. Simply a choice to focus and fly.
With that in mind I want to encourage you to stop looking for reasons and start doing what simply needs to be done. Stop looking for the fifth sign from God, stop talking to psychics (they only tell you what you already know but are too caught up in your own drama to do anything about). Stop being afraid – remember, you are on a time clock and it does not pause for anyone. Even someone as special as you. Also remember that you are in charge of your own reality. Forget about past failures and approach each day, each opportunity like it’s the first one ever. Get up. And go.
That’s my secret.
Now who’s coming with me? Let’s grow together.
