How To Get a Yes: Pitch Deck 101

Delivering a pitch can be a daunting, thrilling, high stakes ride like no other. Pitching your idea can be a little rattling no matter how good, profitable, or viable your offering is so it’s important to go in prepared for any circumstances and confident that, no matter what, if your passion is sincere, you KNOW you will succeed.

A pitch deck is a brief presentation, often created using PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi, used to provide your audience with a quick overview of your business plan. You will usually use your pitch deck during face-to-face or online meetings with potential investors, customers, partners, and co-founders.


There are some pertinent topics that must be included to make sure your investors get the information they need to feel confident in your offering. Skim the following graphic for a quick overview.

The first impression you present in your PowerPoint pitch deck sets the stage for just how high your target’s level of resistance will stand. It is then up to you to deliver your compelling information and make their minds free of any other restrictions so you can open the door to the “yes” you are looking for. Your pitch deck must be full of the right information, organized in a logical and convincing way, and, honestly, it doesn’t hurt if your PowerPoint presentation is downright beautiful.
